I have always loved cooking but my recent efforts to lose weight and become healthy have given me the motivation to start cooking for a purpose!

I have always been overweight. In Jr. high and  high school I hovered between 230-and 250. I knew I was overweight but i stayed active participating in lots of sports.

After graduating high school I went away to Bowling Green State University where I received a bachelors degree in Technology, majoring in visual communication technology. College was a up and down roller coaster of weight issues for me. When I first arrived at BGSU found myself debunking the myth of the freshman 15 and actually losing weight! The main reason of this sudden weight loss is most likely connected to the fact that I didn’t know anyone and did not want to sit in the cafeteria along so I would sit in my dorm and eat granola bars. This way of eating went on for about a month and a half until I met some friends. I started eating more, and more and more. That year in January I took a fall in the student union which cause enough injury that I ended up sitting a lot for the next month. In that month I lost sight of what was really important. my health. I became very inactive and I started eating…. A LOT.

From January of my freshman year until my Junior year I managed to gain about 50 lbs.

Stepping on the scale at 324.4 lbs was absolutely devastating.

I knew that I had to make a change and for a while, I did. I started eating a lot less. I focused more on calories and staying low fat. This worked for a while. I managed to lose about 45 lbs in 6 moths but I wasn’t happy. Don’t get me wrong 45 lbs was awesome and I felt good knowing that I could do it but I found myself low on energy, always tired and even hit with some depression.

And then it happened. . .

I met a wonderful man who introduced me and educated me on low carb dieting. He, himself had lost 80 lbs. and was looking awesome! We spent a couple of months getting to know each other, learning about each others lives. He made me his girlfriend 🙂 Even thought the first 9 months of our relationship was based around a complicated long distance situation I am glad that everything turned out the way it did. I have since moved to Johnson City, TN from Ohio and have started my new journey of weight loss and I have adapted to this new way of eating pretty well!

I have a long way to go but I have the best support system a girl could ask for <3
